Warding-off Winter Blues
1. Get out in the Sun
Although the winter light might not have the intensity of peak summer sunshine, still it is more effective than the artificial lighting at home. Either opt for taking a walk or playing an outdoor sport as exposure to sunshine is known to uplift mood.
2. Interact with Sunny Personalities
According to studies, people who mostly interact with cheerful people tend to be happy themselves.
3. Make a reading or watching list
The cosy weather provides a good opportunity to finally read the books on your bucket list.
4. Developing new neural pathways
Pick up a new hobby or learn a new skill.
5. Stay Active
Working out or other wise maintaining higher physical activities ensures that the body produces enough endorphins or feel-good harmones. However, it is difficult to find oneself motivated for exercise in winters. One can then opt for a physical sport to ensure optimum activity.
6.Try to Follow a Better Sleep Routine
t is more productive and helpful to stick to a natural sleep pattern and avoid staying up and waking up late.
7. Avoid Excessive Sugars
Steer clear of refined sugar. Intake of sugary foods leads to rapid energy fluctuations. As a person's energy fluctuates so does their mood. Instead, go for meals that are high in protein as they are better in keeping the mind alert.
8. Enjoy Nature's Bounties
Take advantage of wintervegetables and fruits to fulfill the daily requirements of vitamins and minerals
